Event QR code

Put every event detail one scan away

An event QR code opens a mobile page with the date, time and place. If something changes after your posters are printed, edit the page and the same code stays correct.

Included in every paid plan from $1/month Dynamic: edit after printing & see scans

You’re hosting an event, and the details are scattered: the date on a poster, the location in an email, the schedule on a website. Guests miss the time, go to the wrong place or simply never find out what is going on.

The problem

Events have a lot of small details: date, start time, venue, address, a short description and where to find out more. Fitting all of that on a flyer makes it crowded, and leaving it off makes people guess.

Details also change. A start time moves, a room is swapped or a speaker is added, and anything already printed is now wrong. Reprinting posters for a small change is wasteful, and not every attendee will see the correction.

People often decide to attend while they are out and about, looking at a poster in a window or on a notice board. If they can’t quickly find the details, many will walk on and forget.

Good events also depend on word of mouth, and word of mouth works best when the details are easy to pass along. A scannable code on a poster or ticket gives people one reliable source to check, instead of three conflicting messages in a group chat.

For organizers, that reliability saves a lot of repeated questions. When the answer to “what time does it start?” is one scan away, you spend less time replying and more time preparing.

How an Event QR code solves it

An Event QR code opens a mobile event page with your details in one tidy place. It is dynamic, so you can edit the page after printing. From the guest’s side:

  1. They scan the code on your poster, flyer or ticket with their phone camera.
  2. Your event page opens in the browser. Nothing to download.
  3. They read the details you have put there — what, when and where.
  4. They decide to come, and they know exactly where and when to show up.

Each scan is recorded with the date, time, approximate location and device type, so you can see whether your posters are being noticed.

An event page is also a handy place to keep the essentials together: the name, the date and time, the venue and a short description. People get the full picture in a single glance on their phone.

Who it’s for

  • Community organizers. Put the code on posters around town so neighbors can check the details.
  • Schools and PTAs. Add it to flyers sent home for fundraisers, concerts and open houses.
  • Churches and clubs. Place a code on bulletin boards and programs for upcoming gatherings.
  • Small businesses. Promote workshops, tastings and grand openings in your window and on counter cards.
  • Nonprofits. Use it on posters and mailers for galas and volunteer days. See our QR codes for events page for more.
  • Performers and venues. Add it to flyers and tickets so fans have the details to hand.

How to create one with Infinite QR

The Event type is included in every paid plan, starting with Starter at $1 a month. It is not part of the Free plan.

  1. Sign up and choose a paid plan on the pricing page.
  2. Choose the Event type in the QR code generator.
  3. Fill in the details. Enter the event name, date, time, location and a short description.
  4. Customize the design. Pick colors and a shape, and add your logo (logos are a paid-plan feature).
  5. Download the code as a PNG or SVG. Use SVG for posters so it stays sharp.
  6. Test-scan before printing. Open the page on your phone and check every detail, especially the date and address.

Tips for better results

  • Use a call to action. “Scan for event details” or “Scan to see the schedule” gives people a reason.
  • Put the date on the poster too. The code is a bonus, not a replacement for the headline details.
  • Print it large for posters. People scan from a few feet away. See the QR code size guide.
  • Update the page, not the poster. If a time changes, edit the event page and the same printed code shows the new information.
  • Use separate codes for different placements. That way the scan stats show you which spots work best. Learn more about QR code tracking.

After the event, keep the page useful. You can edit it to say the event is over, or point people to the next date, so anyone who scans an old poster still gets a sensible answer instead of out-of-date information.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Wrong date or address. Triple-check the page and scan the code before printing.
  • Putting the code where nobody can scan it. Avoid high shelves, curved surfaces and glare.
  • Forgetting to update the page after changes. The advantage of a dynamic code is only useful if you use it.
  • No explanation next to the code. Always tell people what they will see.
  • Low contrast colors. Keep the code dark on a light background.
