Shelf Too Small for Your Range? Use a Product Catalogue QR Code

Infinite QR Team · Nov 6, 2026

You make or stock far more than fits on one shelf, one market table or one flyer. Customers see a handful of pieces, ask “do you have this in other colors?” and leave before you can show them the rest. A product catalogue QR code puts your best products, with photos and prices, on their phone in one scan.

Why customers never see your full range

Small shops and makers run into the same physical limits again and again:

  • Space is tight. A stall, a counter display or a consignment shelf only holds so much.
  • Print is fixed. A flyer can show a few products, and it’s out of date the moment something sells out.
  • You can’t talk to everyone. On a busy day, people browse quietly and leave without asking what else you have.
  • Websites are hard to find in the moment. Telling someone to “look us up online” relies on them remembering your name and spelling it right.

A QR code next to your display gives every browser a way to see more, right while they’re interested.

How to show your range with a product catalogue QR code

  1. Pick your top products. Choose the items that sell best, best represent what you do or aren’t on display. A short, focused selection is easier to browse on a phone than a long list.
  2. Take clear photos. Use daylight or a bright lamp, a plain background and the same angle for each item. Phone photos are fine if they’re sharp and well lit.
  3. Write short, useful descriptions. Size, material, color options and price are what people want to know. One or two lines each is enough.
  4. Link to the rest. If you have a website or online shop, include a link so people can see everything, order online or come back later.
  5. Create the QR code and give it a call to action that says what they’ll see: “Scan to see more colors and sizes” or “Scan for the full collection.”
  6. Place it where browsing happens. On a shelf edge, a stall sign, a price card, the back of a business card, a flyer, a gift tag or a bag insert. For codes on the product itself, see our guide to QR codes on product packaging.
  7. Keep it current. When a product sells out or a new one arrives, update the catalogue page instead of reprinting your signs.

Learn which display gets attention

With a dynamic code, every scan is recorded with the date, time, approximate city and device type. Use a separate code for your market stall and your shop counter, for example, and compare the scan counts to see where browsers are most curious.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Cramming in everything. A focused set of products is easier to browse. Send people to your website for the full list.
  • Dark or blurry photos. On a small screen, a poor photo makes a good product look worse than it is.
  • Leaving out prices. If people have to ask, many won’t.
  • Letting it go stale. Remove sold-out items so customers don’t fall for something they can’t buy.
  • A code with no context. Tell people what scanning gets them.
  • Hiding the code. Put it at eye level near the products, not tucked under the table edge.

Troubleshooting

  • People scan but don’t buy: check that prices are clear and that there’s an easy next step, such as a link to order or a note to ask at the counter.
  • Few scans: make the call to action more specific and place the code right beside the products people pick up most.
  • Photos load slowly: use smaller image files and test on your own phone over cellular data, since market and fair venues often have weak signal.
  • The code won’t scan: make it bigger, use dark on light and move it away from glare.

How to do it with Infinite QR

In the QR code generator, choose the Product Catalogue type to build a mobile page with your products. Each catalogue holds up to 5 items, so pick your highlights and add a link to your website for the full range. Customize the colors, add your logo and download the code as PNG or SVG. The Product Catalogue type is included on all paid plans, starting with Starter at $1 a month. See more ideas on our product showcase page.

Already have an online shop? On the Free plan you can create a dynamic URL code that points to your shop or collection page, with scan tracking and up to 3 dynamic codes. You can change where it points later without reprinting, which is the main benefit of dynamic QR codes. Compare plans and create a free account to get started.
