Tired of Answering Guest Questions? Use Vacation Rental QR Codes

Infinite QR Team · Nov 6, 2026

What’s the WiFi password? What time is check-out? Where do the towels go? Is there a good coffee place nearby? If you run a vacation rental, B&B or small hotel, you answer the same guest questions over and over. A few well-placed QR codes can put the answers in your guests’ hands before they even ask.

Why guests keep asking the same questions

Guests aren’t trying to make extra work for you. The information is usually just hard to find in the moment:

  • The welcome binder gets ignored. It’s long, it’s on a shelf, and nobody reads it cover to cover.
  • The booking messages are buried. Check-in details sent days ago are lost among other texts and emails.
  • Questions come up at specific moments. People wonder about the WiFi when they open their laptop and about check-out when they’re packing.
  • Travelers are tired. After a long trip, messaging the host is easier than searching.

The fix is to put the right answer exactly where the question comes up, one scan away.

How to set up guest QR codes for your rental

  1. List your top questions. Look back through your guest messages and note what people ask most. WiFi, parking, check-out, trash and recycling, appliances and local recommendations usually top the list.
  2. Make a WiFi code. A WiFi QR code lets guests join your network without typing a password. Place it near the router or on the desk. Our guide to the WiFi QR code for guests walks through the details.
  3. Create one guest info hub. Instead of a dozen codes, make one mobile page with links to your house guide, check-out steps, local tips and a way to contact you. A link-in-bio page works well for this.
  4. Put short notes where they’re needed. A small code by the coffee maker or washing machine can open plain-text instructions for that appliance.
  5. Place codes at the moment of need. Good spots include the entryway, the fridge, the bedside table, the back of the front door (for check-out) and the welcome sign.
  6. Label every code. “Scan for WiFi,” “Scan for check-out steps” and “Scan for our favorite local spots” tell guests exactly what they’ll get.
  7. Keep the content current. Use dynamic codes so you can update your recommendations, house rules or contact details without reprinting.
  8. Test between stays. Scan each code during turnover to confirm it still works and the information is correct.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Too many codes. A wall of QR codes is confusing. Combine related information on one page.
  • Forgetting to update the WiFi code after you change your network password. A WiFi code stores the password itself, so make a new code when it changes.
  • Putting private details on a public page. Door codes and lockbox combinations are safer sent directly to each confirmed guest than placed on a page anyone could open.
  • Linking to long PDFs that are hard to read on a phone.
  • Codes in dark corners or behind furniture where they’re hard to find or scan.

Troubleshooting

  • WiFi code won’t connect: double-check the network name, password and security type you entered, since they must match exactly.
  • Guests still message you: make the labels clearer, mention the codes in your check-in message, or move the codes closer to where the question comes up.
  • Code is faded or scratched: print a fresh one on sturdier material, or laminate it with a matte finish.

How to do it with Infinite QR

You can start for free. In the QR code generator, create a Bio Links page as your guest info hub, or a dynamic URL code that points to a house guide you already have online. Both are on the Free plan, which includes 3 dynamic codes, 1,000 scans, color customization and 4 shapes.

For the full guest setup, paid plans include the WiFi type, the Text type for short appliance or check-out instructions, and the Business Profile type, which shows your property’s contact details and location on one mobile page. Paid plans start at $1 a month and also let you add your logo to each code. Compare options on our pricing page.
